1371ST NEWS BURST
One thing you can depend on in the 71st is the opportunity to broaden your horizons through travel. At present, Capt Kelley, Capt Kampe, and Capt Hinote and their crews are gleefully looking forward to broadening their horizons with a 6 month trip to AST 7. Judging from some remarks overheard, one or two of the men are not too anxious to broaden their horizons. Or, to use the words of one disgruntled troop, "so who wants fat horizons?"
Capt Cormier departed TDY to AST 5 to replace Capt Grundy. Capt Grundy brought back a bum leg for a souvenir and is presently at Maxwell for treatment.
Speaking of hospitals, Capt Adolf and his wife, Betty, have been keeping the local medics pretty busy. Capt Adplf just returned from an 8 day tour navigating a hospital bed. Also, Mrs Adolf presented to the world one each bouncing baby boy, Christopher Eric Adolf.
The 71st officers held a party at the Officer's Club last month. The high point of the evening was the floorshow featuring a glamorous chorus line (Capt Kelley, Lt Mackey, and Lt Reed). We would like to extend our thanks to Capt Marler for arranging a very entertaining and enjoyable party.
The Photo Section is sweating out the manpower problem now. With the loss of Ace Photographer Sgt Larsen and two 2nd Photographers, A1C Graves and A1C Courtney, nine photo men scheduled for deployment to AST 7, and with the unavoidable leaves among the remaining personnel, we can fully appreciate their problem. According to pertinent poop, though, the Photo Section should be getting five additional men through cross training.
Last month we congratulated A2C Mayo for the addition of a stripe. This month A2C Mayo deserves another pat on the back for passing the 3-level clerk typist test with flying colors.
From the Operations Section, we got word that A3C Falin has passed his classification board for 3-level in the Air Operations Field.
Congratulations are also in order for SMSgt Simms on his recent promotion. SMSgt Simms is presently TDY to AST 8.
That's it for this month. Remember - you heard it first in the 71st news burst.
