DOWN BOGOTA WAY - AST 2
AST 2 is undergoing a complete change of personnel. This week the change was started with the return to Turner of Major Kott, Captain O'Neill, Lt Wilson, Sgt Baker, Sgt Nichols, Sgt Smith, and Airman Murchison. Capt Dearth, Capt Cox, Capt Sanders, Sgt Smith, Sgt Bordelon, Sgt Brady, Sgt Williams, Sgt Erhart, and Airman Walk are the new smiling replacements
With Capt Dearth and crew there was one more Staff Visit: Col Walker, Major West, Capt Hamm, and Dr. Walker. Chaplain Weber had arrived a few days earlier to round off the group. AST 2 is now being taken care of, both body and soul. The visitors were entertained at the household of Major and Mrs Roberts on the first of March.
Capt Park is now enjoying the weather in central America with Capt Lyon and crew, while Capt Jacobs, the crew's regular navigator, is spending a few days in Albany, awaiting the arrival of a new addition to the family. We understand that Capt Jacobs is now the proud father of a 5 Ib, 8 oz baby girl. A1C Warner is the proud father of a 6 Ib boy born 5 March. Congratulations to both Captain Jacobs and Airman Warner.
The photo repair section is in the capable hands of SSgt Russel Braby. MSgt Donald Nichols returned to Turner AFB on the 2 March aircraft, after a job well done in the photo maintenance section.
We bid adios to our newest SSgt, H.S. Smith and Bienvenido to SSgt Ehrhart.
MSgt Nichols was last seen getting on 514 with large bags of money and a smile
SSgt Brady is back for another tour, complete with Ruana.
Our intrepid interpreter and line chief CMS (Chief Many Stripes) Kennedy is walking around, a foot off the ground. It is rumored that a PCS to Germany is the cause.
MSgt(Snake)Letson is cramming goodies down his pet's neck. Diet includes vitamin pills, no less.
If Reynolds and Ferguson keep on cracking up model aircraft, we will have to have an accident investigator assigned. Maybe more instructions are in order.
Don't know if it is news-worthy or not, but flying time was exactly the same for two consecutive months (322:40). Lots of sweat and tears, plus not a few prayers.
Just got a "FLASH", Reynolds and Ferguson have just made a successful flight (at last).
