When the World's Oldest Photomapper Program began in 1998, a few members of the Air Force Photomapping Association objected to having a bottle of an alcoholic beverage be the center point of the trophy comprising the tontine. This was certainly a valid objection; however, bowing to military tradition and the wishes of the majority of the membership, the trophy was constructed with the booze as its central feature. The "Oldest" Committee has not forgotten those who objected and now has an alternative available to any future Oldest Photomapper who does not want possession of the trophy. A beautiful walnut, perpetual plaque has been constructed with an Air Force blue faceplate and individual plates recognizing each "Oldest". The faceplate is engraved with the words: World's Oldest Photomapper, and with the Association's Logo. Individual plates have been engraved recognizing Bill Sapp and George Braceland as our two "Oldest" members to date. There is room for 22 more. Routinely, the plaque will be retained by the Oldest Committee and will be displayed at all future reunions. However, each subsequent Oldest Member will have his name engraved on the plaque and will be given the choice of receiving the trophy or the plaque. Hopefully, this alternative tontine will stimulate more of our members to join the "Oldest" Program. An enrollment form is available elsewhere on the webpage or in any recent issue of The Photomapper newsletter. Gordon Barnes 11/11/2004
