INCA TIMES - AST 9

The month of February brought two unexpected guests. Major Goudeau and CMSgt Love. They were here on a very useful advisory visit. Hope to see more assistance of this kind.

Rotational aircraft are getting like horse races lately - you can almost take bets as to who will depart on what aircraft. Everyone is hoping to ride squadron aircraft to Turner. Capt Stewart and crew are expected to rotate on or about 7 March, taking aircraft 70522 home. Among the passengers, Amn Avret, Nead and Whitten will have the good luck to return home via "1370th Channel Traffic".

Understand via the grapevine that one of our returnees got married when he got back. If this is fact, congratulations are due to you know who. Ski, give Maggie our best regards and congratulations. Capt Reed, believe it or not, is next to fall by the wayside. He is expected to return to Lima in May and take that final step.

Things have slowed down some-what for the Cash Purchasing Agent, Lt Gonsky. In fact, come March 6 he goes back to Turner for a week off to clear his account-good luck!

On George Washington's birthday, Sgt Stevenson, Faulk, Parsons, Airman Bailey, Pridmore, Hansen, and Erhardt visited the Pachacamac ruins just South of Lima. This is just one of the many historical sites in the Lima area.

Congratulations to CMS Stevenson, SSgt Silvia, A1C Bearce, and A1C Tyndal in their good fortune during the last promotion cycle.

A1C Osgood spent four days in the hospital after an appendicitis operation. We're glad he's back on duty and doing fine.

A1C and Mrs Paul Schoen announced the arrival of their son, Paul, Jr., on 8 FEB 62. Paul, Jr. was born at the Clinica Anglo-American, Lima, Peru, weighed 6 Ibs, 4 oz (3.12 kilos), and was 48 cm in length,

The Photo Lab declared a celebration on 23 Feb 62. The reason for the celebration was the completion of the electrical work in the new Photo Lab. The wiring of the five rooms was done in record breaking time of 90 days. (In this "Land of Manana", this could be a new record).

TSgt Clyde Miller and crew have done an outstanding job on setting up a well organized Photo Lab at Las Palmas, which is all set to go into full scale operation, except for water filters which are due to arrive on 5 March 62.

Mr Bernard "Stretch" Zenis, Army Map Service Representative with AST 9, is finally getting settled down for his PCS stay in Lima,, He has finally gotten his furniture and 1962 Thunderbird out of Peruvian Customs. We're all anxiously awaiting word of the "open house party" at his new apartment.

Anyone at Turner desiring any carpenter work done around May 62 should get in touch with TSgt P.D. Miller, Aerial Photographer. We here at AST 9 consider bin a "fine type" carpenter.

The word in Maintenance around here lately is "keep moving". Seems that everything that isn't moving gets painted for Corrosion Control.
